Virtually Me is a website tool for lifelong learning that will help users to plan for the future by:

  • recording their achievements;
  • finding information and working on activities about their finances, and
  • enhancing their enterprise skills.

Users will have their own secure individual, Username and Password controlled, account that will enable them to access all parts of the site.

My Profile

This section enables users to record many aspects of their achievements and to keep the information in a secure place.  Their details can be regularly updated as and when they feel it appropriate. The nine sections reflect those identified by Progress File and Virtually Me will complement the processes recommended by it. In this section users can record:

  • personal details
  • achievements
  • key skills
  • education and qualifications
  • employment profile
  • personal statements
  • goals and action plans
  • career action plan
  • CV.

Personal Finance

Knowledge Bank
This section allows users to assess what they think they know about many aspects of personal finance, including:

  • banking
  • budgeting
  • borrowing
  • saving
  • benefits
  • paying bills
  • insurance
  • national insurance
  • income tax.

If they are not sure about any of the above they can click on the link to “Find Out” and they will be directed to the Dough UK website where they can find the answers.

Tools
The Tools section allows users to:

  • work out their take home pay
  • put together a weekly budget
  • calculate how much a loan will cost
  • calculate how much borrowing on a credit card will cost.

Enterprise

Enterprise education is a major aspect of work-related learning and in this section of Virtually Me users can:

  • recognise and record their achievements
  • consider and record which Enterprise Skills they have used.

A teaching tool

Virtually me is an excellent teaching tool to use in the three areas of Recording Achievement, Personal Finance and Enterprise. It does not replace current school curriculum programmes, but will enhance and support them.
